Kandy, Colombo & Beach Tour Itinerary
Day 1
You will be greeted upon arrival & transferred to your hotel in Kandy.
In the afternoon you will go for a city tour of Kandy.
Kandy
Kandy is a historical city and a World Heritage Site. The word/name “Kandy” signifies visions of splendor and magnificence. You can still find legends, traditions and folklore still kept alive in Kandy. As a part of Kandy tour, you will drive around the Kandy Lake, which was built by the last Sinhala king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. In addition to that you will visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. You will also get to see the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy and thereafter witness a cultural show.
Overnight stay will be at hotel in Kandy.
Day 2
After breakfast at the Hotel in Kandy you will be transferred to Peradeniya & visit the Royal Botanical Garden.
Royal Botanical Garden
The Royal botanical garden has a long history. This garden was first built as a pleasure destination by a Sinhala king and the British later expanded it. The garden spreads over 147 acres and houses a variety of trees, plants and flowers.
After the visit to the Royal botanical garden, you will proceed to Kalutara/Bentota / Ahungalla via Pinnawala.
Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
The famous Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage was established in 1975. The initial objective of establishing the Pinnawela Elephant orphanage was inclined more towards tourism, but with passage of time, it has become conservation and educational centre. Local and foreign elephant enthusiasts and experts have helped Pinnawela start a scientific captive-breeding programme for elephants. The free movement of the herd amidst natural surroundings increased the chances for elephants to get together and mate and in 1984, the first baby of Pinnawela elephant orphanage was born.
The success story of Pinnawela finds mention in a number of magazines, journals and publications. In fact, many photographers and wildlife enthusiasts have shot video and photographed the elephants thousands of times.
The visit to Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is followed by overnight stay in Kalutara/ Bentota/ Ahungalla.
Day 3
Breakfast at the Hotel will be followed by a morning city & shopping tour of Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka.
Colombo
Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka is a combination of modern growth and old world charm. Besides the modern skyscrapers, the city is still dotted with several British built colonial buildings. As a part of your Colombo tour, you will visit a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH and the old Sri Lankan parliament. You will also explore House of Fashions, ODEL, Noritake ceramic shop & a local souvenir shop. After the city tour of Colombo, you will have leisure time in the afternoon.
Overnight stay at hotel in Colombo.
Day 4
After Breakfast you will be transferred to the Airport to board the flight for your further journey.
